Latin Honors Eligibility
We recognize and celebrate academic excellence, including for transfer students. If you're transferring from another institution, you can still be eligible for Latin Honors provided you meet the following conditions:
- Completion of at least 80% of the required academic units for their degree in MMDC.
- Successful completion of the program within the specified timeframe outlined in their curriculum or program of study.
- Absence of any grades of "5.00," "FA," or "F" in all courses specified in their curriculum or program of study.
- The credit grade average will be based solely on grades achieved in the student's program, taking into account resident units. This includes both elective courses and officially recognized equivalent courses. However, courses taken solely for credit purposes will not be factored into the calculation.
- Demonstrating good moral character and maintaining a clean disciplinary record throughout their enrollment at MMDC.
The criteria for Latin Honors are as follows:
- Summa Cum Laude: GWA of 1.00 ≤ GWA ≤ 1.25
- Magna Cum Laude: GWA of 1.26 ≤ GWA ≤ 1.50
- Cum Laude: GWA of 1.51 ≤ GWA ≤ 1.75
Achieving these honors requires academic excellence, and meeting the required percentage of courses completed at MMDC ensures your eligibility for these prestigious recognitions.
Grading System
MMDC uses a 1.00 scale for grading, where 1.00 is the highest grade achievable. This grading scale is complemented by a rubric-based evaluation system that assesses specific assignments and projects.
Official Grading Scale:
- 1.00: Above 96
- 1.25: 91.51 to 96
- 1.50: 87.01 to 91.50
- 1.75: 82.51 to 87
- 2.00: 78.01 to 82.50
- 2.25: 73.51 to 78
- 2.50: 69.01 to 73.50
- 2.75: 64.51 to 69
- 3.00: 60 to 64.50
- 5.00: Below 60
Rubric-Based Evaluation:
In addition to traditional grades, assignments, projects, and other deliverables are evaluated based on rubric levels:
- Advanced
- Intermediate
- Developing
This helps provide a more detailed assessment of your performance, showing where you excel and where you may need improvement.
These grading systems ensure fairness, transparency, and an accurate reflection of your academic progress throughout your time at MMDC.
